Don't get me wrong I love the charm of the Everyman as it stands and it has an addictive atmosphere but it is worn out.
I don't confess to personally know about the problems behind the scenes with dressing rooms and inadequate floor space but I do know the benches are horribly uncomfortalble.
After three hours your bum does go 'square' and it takes away from the enjoyment of the show.
The seats are squishy and you do sag into them.
The toilets are ancient and not big enough to cope with the inevitable interval rush especially in the ladies.
None of these would be reason not to go to the Everyman but the theatre can only go so far before enough is enough.
It needs a face-lift. I hope they don't do too much to the Bistro, however, I like its rustic charm and would not find one of these modern glass houses appealing at all. It is fantastic on a rainy day as there are a range of dishes and always has lots of veggie options-a winner with me!
So finger crossed everyone will be happy in years to come when it is finished. It is a shame you have to wait so long for the improvements to be finished. We need a magic wand and some fairy dust!
What do you think?
