Shankly spooks
Posted by Sam on April 16, 2008 3:46 PM

No I haven't gone insane, I am not repeating myself as I do realise I already have a post under this title.
I was annoyed to hear last night that after the fan fare and going to Anfield for the 'signing' Jonathan Watson has pulled out of playing the iconic Liverpool manager in the 90th minute.
With 10 days to go Andy Sherlock (the writer) and his team have to work around the clock to get new man Sandy West perfect for the opening night next week.
Good on Sandy for dropping everythingand rushing down from Scotland yesterday. Surely Jonathan, who stated diary commitments as his reasons, would have know well in advance what he was doing. He made a commitment to the Shankly Show and he should have given his word.
Ok rant over. At least Sandy will be free for extra shows that will come up later in the year.
Best of luck to everyone. As Andy said 'The show must go on.'
Is Liverpool the new Barcelona?

I think the answer to that question will only be apparent at the end of this year. At the moment half the city still looks like building site. But I think when it is all finshed it will take some beating.
I can't wait for all of the amazing shops that are going to open with the Grovesnor project, I only hope that they are going to be able to keep it looking spick and span and that the rest of the city centre doesn't go to pot!!
But look at this from the Chamber of Commerce:
Action from the Viennese Ball.

Rich and I went to the ball on the Saturday night. And as you can see from the other four entries I took a lot of video!!
We had a really brilliant time. We had one twirl around the dance floor and did stand on each others toes but we decided that we would get some lessons before our wedding. It was good though as we laughed our way around.
Rich didn't really want to go but had a great time in the end and he looked very dashing in his tux!!
Below is a video of everyone enjoying the evening....
The Viennese Waltz with Anton and Erin

Anton and Erin took to the floor for the first dance: the Viennese Waltz. They were truly fantastic........
The night a Strictly Come Dancing star fell for me....literally!

There I was all ready with my camera at the edge of the dance floor busy filming the stars of the Viennese Ball on Saturday when Bang! Anton Du Beke and his partner Erin Boag crashed into the camera.
It took a few secs for me to recover-despite watching them through the camera's screen I just didn't think they would hit me!! I thought they were going to be fuming but....
Waltzing wonder

That's not me in case you were wondering!! Well it might be-who knows. The last time I did any ballroom dancing was when I was in uni at Leeds. I was in the 'Dancesport team' but never competed I was always too busy with doing musical theatre.
I am very much looking forward to the Viennese Balls this weekend. I will be heading along to the Saturday event to do some filming and hopefully enjoy myself.
Richard is coming with me to twirl me around the dance floor although I am rather worried I will come home with broken toes or no toes at all!!!
I think the best thing to do is maybe to stand on his feet and make him move us both!
In all honesty I have no idea whether he can ball room dance or not. He doesn't know it yet but I am going to be watching him really closely to see if he might need dancing lessons before our wedding next year. I know I would like to have lessons but not sure if he will agree!!!
Anyway........I will continue my day dream that I am the best dancer in the room and shock even those who do it for a living. One can dream
Nick gets back in the saddle ahead of Aintree dream
Posted by Sam on April 4, 2008 2:05 PM
As you know I have been following Nick Peet around as he completes his 'Great 08 challenge'.
He successfully completed the half marathon and managed to do in just over 2 hrs. Not bad for someone who trained for only a few weeks prior to the race.
His next challenge is the horse race where he will compete against two professional jockeys in a flat race-hopefully at Aintree in a few weeks time.
He is going to train down south at Ginger McCain's son, Donald (good luck Cloudy Lane!!) in the next couple of weeks.
But he quite wisely decided to go for extra lessons having not been on a horse since he was 13 (turn the numbers round and that is his current age).
I went along for his first lesson-he was surprisingly good!! He managed to trot on Jackson without the lead reign.
