"I left you Liverpool but I never let you down" what utter TOSH

Posted by Sam on January 21, 2008 3:30 PM |

So I went to the Number One's project on Saturday night. I wasn't sure that I was keen on Atomic Kitten and theri cover of Cilla's song until I realised that those girls can sing! They have really lovely voices singing live.

What I couldn't understand through the concert was why there were so many references to Ringo.

After concert I went back to the office to edit my video (which took 7 hours btw!) and was enlightened by a colleague who showed me Ringo on J.Ross on YouTube

What a stupid, stupid thing to say. The thing is after watching him at the press conference the week before im not suprised. He has a funny humour and said similar things to us lot. As an ambassador of Liverpool he let the city down big time and every fan he ever had. No idea how well the single did but have a feeling it id dead in Liverpool now.

Anyway...

Back to the show. I like it becasue it was so so so bizarre. It was a massive cabaret show-some great other awful. My favs were Dr and Medics he was brilliant and Spirit in the Sky should be recognised as a Liverpool number one.

Lets hope we can get another Liverpool number one with Atomic Kitten. I for one will be backing them esp as it is for charity.

I was going to put pictures on but can't for some reason!

Give me your thoughts on Ringo-no swearing please ;)

I'd like to add comments about Ringo. He seems really happy to jump on Liverpool's back and ride the publicity when it means he can make from it. I'd like to know what he was paid to come and attend the opening 'gig'.

Strikes me it would be better if Ringo stayed as far away from Liverpool as he could and someone who likes Liverpool and can speak intelligently about our cultural stew was the central figure in our capital of culture year.

I also would like to add that again the decision makers have backed the wrong horse, or in ringo's case the wrong donkey.

Used to admire Ringo, after all, he kept our two entertained when they were younger with his Thomas stories. But I feel that he has used the 08 celebrations to promote himself. As for the song, well its quirky, but a child could have written more expansive lyrics. Pete Wylie and Heart as Big as Liverpool would have been a great anthem.

Apologise now Ringo, or be consigned with the MacKenzies, Boris Johnsons and the other fools that have mocked our great city.

I am an Ambassador for the Capital of Culture here in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.

I believe that Ringo owes the People and City of Liverpool an apology. The city invites him to launch the culture event and he gives a flip remark. Shame on Ringo. I will not buy his Liverpool8 song ever!

The Capital of Culture needs to get Gerry Marsden to perform for future events and other local talent.

People talk like this is some boyfriend that has jilted them..... If you remember how many times they were asked "Are the Beatles getting back together"? Now the reason they didn't was simple. They moved on.How is this any different? The Beatles had to deal with alot of noise for leaving Liverpool to become more successful. They were only embraced by Liverpool once they came back from Germany and Liverpudlians thought they were German.Maybe that's what made them different than most. They weren't so stuck in tradition and custom and hatred like alot of people are. What is to miss in life when you are 67 years old as Ringo is? Well, youth might be one. Family and friends that have died possibly.A city is not a home.People closest to you are.It is hard to understand home to others when you have been famous for 35 years and have to live nomadic at times. However he is one of TWO people that are living proof of what came from there changed the world. He is your spokesman like it or not and human.I don't believe that he was trying to hurt people. It is not the job of the Beatles to put "their" money into the hands of any city or people. Respect is something we give people not districts or villages or even countries.Sometimes getting out and seeing this world of ours makes you know that it is not where you've been but it is the journey that is life. For that he knows better than all of us... Just a thought.Peace
